LESSONS
Our Program
We currently offer one hour private lessons given by one of our fully insured instructors. Riders can take lessons on their own horse or one of our well trained, quiet school horses. We can start riders as young as 3 with special Tiny Tot lessons. Depending on instructor availability, lessons are offered Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 7:00 pm. Occasional Saturday morning are also available

We believe in creating a solid foundation of skills in our students, learning all aspects of horsemanship. Lessons are tailored to meet the clients needs and desires. We help the students figure out their goals and develop a program to help them achieve success. Starting with compassion and respect for our horses, we teach our clients about safe handling, good grooming, saddle fit, basic horse first aid, and lunging along with good basic riding skills. Private, one on one lessons allow for students to progress at their own pace.

Meet Our Instructors
Melissa Bertz
Barn Owner & Head Trainer
Melissa Bertz is the head trainer of Exclusive Show Horses. Missy has been training horses professionally for over 25 years. She began working out of Exclusive Equine Center in 2008 after meeting previous owner, Kelly Thommes at a show. Missy and her partner Dan purchased EEC in August of 2022
Not blessed with a “horsey” family, she grew up riding and taking lessons whenever possible. After saving up money to buy her first horse at age 16, Missy has continued to pursue her career in training and in teaching. She has learned from many great trainers through the years and enjoys branching out to discover new avenues to explore. Her main passion will always be in the pattern classes, but appreciates all the aspects of different disciplines, from Western Dressage, to Working Equitation, to cattle sorting and camping with the horses.
Angie Olson
Instructor
Angie Olson is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Crookston’s Equine Science Program. She began at EEC as a full time assistant trainer and instructor to continue to hone her skills and knowledge.

One of Angie’s passion is teaching the beginning rider from three years old and up. She says that seeing the ‘light bulb’ go off in one of her students is one of the most rewarding moments as an instructor.
Anna Sheppard
Instructor/Assistant Trainer
Anna came to Exclusive Equine Center in 2017 as an assistant trainer to Melissa Bertz. Her first love is Barrel Racing and game events, but she has found her new passion in Ranch riding and cattle sorting. Like most of the rider at Exclusive, she enjoys challenging herself to try new disciplines.

Anna instructs our beginning riders and helps them find their passion in the horse industry. Anna finds pride in maintaining her focus on our equine partners and teaching her riders about good horsemanship and sportsmanship.
